About

Emily Koos-Gemignani originally grew up outside of Houston, Texas but moved quite frequently during childhood between Texas, California, and Colorado. As a kid, she was always interested in many forms of art but during her teen years, it became clear that painting resonated with her the most.

In her early twenties, Emily briefly studied art at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado but found being a self-taught painter was more suited for her style and development for the direction she wanted to go.

Currently, Emily lives in Arizona where she has been refining her painting style for the last ten years. When Emily is not painting she spends her time enjoying time with her husband, children, and pets while also helping her clients using her skills in Animal Communication.

She has been painting abstracts for over a decade now, focusing on the balance of shape and color using mediums that vary in viscosity to portray layers and depth. Most recently her process has been pouring diluted paint on raw canvas and then layering, using full-bodied acrylic and mixed media. She has always been inspired by the bright colors found in nature and the relationship of how light affects color when transparent. She likes to use nature and organic shapes as a backdrop for her inspiration in the majority of her works. Being inspired by the outdoors is part of what drew her and her family to Arizona.

Today she is happy to call Tucson home and loves discussing all things art related, so feel free to connect via her Instagram account: Emily Gemignani
